garden photos

Hello!
As promised, here are some photos of the garden in its current state.

This is the pea trellis we set up, which will allow the peas to climb upwards as they grow.

A pea plant blooming!

Spring Lettuce Mix

Really Red Deer Tongue Lettuce

More delicious lettuce...

Garlic, which is currently about 2 feet tall and will be harvested in the fall.

We also have zucchini, strawberries, blueberries, beets, arugula and much more, so keep checking for added pictures and updates.

Also, there will be a workday tomorrow (Saturday 5/30) from 12pm-4pm so stop by to help out or to see what's growing!!!

update

Hello gardeners, readers, Brunonians,

Sorry we haven't updated in the last couple days.
Although we haven't been posting, a lot has been going on in the garden.

For starters, the peas plants have started to bloom!! Hopefully we'll have some delicious sugarsnap peas by mid to late June.

The zucchini plants have started to flower as well.

Little basil sprouts have come up from planting last week, more tomato plants have been transplanted, and lettuce is growing big and fast. We harvested about 3 lbs of lettuce today!

We took a bunch of pictures, but blogspot is being fickle at the moment, so we'll try to put photos up tomorrow.

Until then, peas out.

radish radish

We harvested radishes for the first time today!!!
We made a little salad and tossed some sliced radishes on top--it was so fresh and delicious.
mmmmm....

We also set up netting for the peas to climb as they grow. Thanks to Steph and Cecilia for helping us out with that!

If you're sticking around for Commencement or will be on campus for the summer, come check the garden out! You will see a bamboo teepee net formation for the peas, little arugula just starting to sprout, huge garlic sprouts, rows of lettuce ready to be eaten, and tons of weeds ready to be pulled.

See you at the work day tomorrow from 2-5.

your faithful garden managers,

The Start

Hey everybody! I guess we're a bit late on starting this blog, but the garden is in full swing! We currently have peas, tomatoes, beets, radishes, lettuce, carrots, spinach, pac choi, onions, strawberries, zucchini, sunflowers, bush beans, sunflowers, and arugula. Everything's at a different stage right now, but we've already harvested some lettuce!

We also have a bunch of seedlings going strong in the greenhouse. We've got eggplant, basil (lemon and cinnamon), cucumber, watermelon, tomatoes, peppers, and broccoli, all of which we're gonna have to transplant in the coming weeks.

We're planning on planting some more peppers and eggplant soon, as well as starting up an herb garden and planting some pole beans along the fence. We've also got to set up some netting for the peas and tomatoes to grow up.

There's plenty to do and tons of weeds to pull. It should be a good summer.
